The Players
The First lucky couple, and winners of Playa Dorada Super Couple (Buy me a beer sometime, or ten, and I'll tell you all about it) is Renez and Marcos. Renez and Marcos have been very good friends for a few years now, and have decided that they make excellent travel companions. Of course neither one of their significant others were real happy that they were traveling out of the country with another. So, as you can expect the significant others have departed, meaning that they are both once again single. Oh well, it was still a fun vacation.

Now, I could introduce Jeff and Johnnie by telling about their unfortunate incident involving a few balloons in the Super Couple contest, but I don't think Jeff will ever talk to me again if I did so. Jeff and Marcos have been best friends since high school (about 14 years or so). So, anyway Jeff and Johnnie were living in NYC, NY at the time (they have since relocated to Tampa, FL). Between Jeff, Johnnie and Marcos we had planned this vacation out over the previous 11 months. This was their first vacation out of the states, and even though they have decreased liver function and quite a few dead skin cells from over exposure to the sun, I think all in all they consider it a success. You'll notice in the picture the large bottle of Presidente, Jeff adapted well to Dominican life when he realized you cannot under any circumstances stray too far from your next bottle of beer.

Our next illustrious couple hails from London, England. And we had the pleasure of thoroughly embarassing ourselves with them in the Super Couple contest. But absolutely the best part of the experience, (other than of course being hailed as Super Couple of Playa Dorada), was taking the opportunity to meet Russ and Caroline, as I'm sure they will be friends for a long while. So, as I've said Russ and Caroline are from London England, it was Caroline's third trip to the Dominican Republic, and to Heavens resort, and Russ's first adventure there. We kind of forced them out of their comfortable shell in the resort, and made them experience authentic Dominican cuisine and culture. (Although they did wimp out on the thought of going to the Cock fight.) Caroline still hasn't forgiven me for causing extreme stress to her liver, but I suppose that's part of the joy of traveling with me.

And last but not least Mark and Zena(and no before you ask, I don't think she has any relation to the warrior princess). We met Mark and Zena on our third night at Playa Dorada, and they were quite willing participants to our drunken debaucherous activities. They were quite sporting, all in all. Mark and Zena also hail from the British Isles, somewhere in rural England. I'd like to say I remember where they come from, but I don't think my brain was ever working at 100%, must of been all the blood rushing to my liver and kidneys to process the immense amounts of alcohol we imbibed (damn all-inclusive plans).
