Dominican Republic Vacation |
|
Last 2 days in Playa Dorada Ok, now it's time to do some beach activities. So, here are Johnnie and Renez, preparing to go up in a Parasail. You'll notice Johnnie gave in, and let the Haitian ladies braid her hair. There are a few scams that you should watch out for in the Dominican Republic. If you get your hair braided, always, always, always negotiate the price up front. And I think this is Renez up in the sky, but who can tell. Too high up for me, I have problems even trying to climb a ladder. And even though Renez intimidated some of the men, she seemed to have no problem in getting plenty of hugs from them. This is the "Main Man", "The Banana Boat Man", otherwise known as Hector, with his implements of torture in the background.
And then to get some of the local culture, we decide it would be best to go to a cock fight. So, we get one of the staff to take us to a cock fight on his only day off. It was kind of bloody, but fun. Don't recommend it to the light hearted. Then after we finish up with the cock fight we head out to dinner at a local establishment. And then we head for a walk on the malecon, and of course drinks. The malecon is a feature of most of the main cities in the D.R. It is an oceanside boardwalk. Very popular for the young locals, much like the shopping mall in urban USA. |
